1. Introduction

Etalka is built around direct, private communication. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the App:

• Account information: email address, display name, username, country code, and optional phone number if you choose to add one.
• Device and connection data: browser type, push notification subscription details, and a basic STUN compatibility flag used to determine whether your network can support peer-to-peer calls.
• Contacts (with permission): if you use the contact-import feature, we process your device's contacts solely to find people already on Etalka. We do not store your full address book.
• Call history: we log basic metadata such as caller, callee, call mode (voice or video), status, start time, and duration. We do not record or store call audio or video content.

3. Peer-to-Peer Calls and Messages

Voice, video, and chat messages are transmitted directly between your device and the other user's device using WebRTC. This content is encrypted in transit by the browser and is not routed through or stored on our servers. If both users are not online at the same time, peer-to-peer messages cannot be delivered.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and authenticate your account.
• Enable you to find and connect with other users.
• Route signaling messages needed to establish peer-to-peer calls.
• Send push notifications for incoming calls and messages.
• Maintain a recent call history visible to you in the App.
• Protect the security and integrity of the App.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only when required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or with service providers who help us operate the App under strict confidentiality obligations.

6. Cookies and Analytics

The App does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics for advertising purposes. We may use essential cookies and local storage needed for authentication and app functionality.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and call metadata for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Because calls and messages are peer-to-peer, their security also depends on your device, browser, and network configuration.

9. Your Choices

You can update your profile, change your discoverability settings, and manage push notification permissions from within the App. You may also revoke camera or microphone permissions through your browser or device settings at any time.

10. Children's Privacy

Etalka is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
